In October 2025, OxyBatt was represented in Japan by project partner Day One as part of the EIC Multi-Corporate Day, organised by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Corporate Partnership Programme in collaboration with JETRO – Japan External Trade Organization.
The initiative brought together 26 EIC-backed deep-tech startups and scale-ups from 16 European countries and represented the largest mission organised by the European Innovation Council outside Europe under the EIC Corporate Partnership Programme.
Over four days, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with decision-makers from some of Japan’s leading corporations, including Dai Nippon Printing, JX Advanced Metals Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, NEC and Shimizu Corporation. The programme was designed to foster strategic collaborations and business opportunities between European innovators and the Japanese industrial ecosystem.
As part of the mission, Day One presented the OxyBatt project and its vision for the development of a rechargeable all-solid-state, thin-film oxygen-ion battery capable of operating at high temperatures between 200°C and 600°C. The initiative provided an opportunity to introduce the project to international industrial stakeholders and gather valuable feedback from potential future users and partners.
The programme combined market intelligence sessions, reverse corporate pitches, startup presentations and structured matchmaking activities focused on strategic sectors such as advanced materials, energy transition, sustainability and digital technologies.
Participants also visited the European Union Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka and attended BIO Japan, one of Asia’s leading partnering events, where discussions with innovation stakeholders continued beyond the formal programme activities.
For OxyBatt, participation in the EIC Multi-Corporate Day represented an important opportunity to increase the project’s international visibility and engage with organisations operating at the forefront of industrial innovation. These interactions contribute to a better understanding of market needs and future application opportunities while strengthening the project’s international network.
As the project progresses, OxyBatt will continue engaging with stakeholders across Europe and beyond, promoting dialogue between research, innovation and industry to support the development of next-generation energy storage solutions.
